Limitations of underlining study: low number of participants with pre-malignant diseases to discriminate between positives and negatives; low number of current and former smokers to make conclusions about the model performance in these populations; lack of evaluation of other at-risk populations such as heavy drinkers and patients with HPV-OPSCC; while the study participants were recruited from across the U.S. and Australia, the positive cases were recruited from a single site in Australia.
